Anyone who has ever been to Lake Geneva Wisconsin knows that there is an abundance of things to do for fun. There is fantastic shopping, everything from fast food galore to the finest dining, outstanding nightlife, great fishing spots, water parks, boating, skiing, and top notch golf. I know, it sounds like the perfect place. That is why so many make Lake Geneva Wisconsin their number one vacation destination every year, and the number is growing.
There are resorts like Grand Geneva, and the Abbey that offer excellent accommodations. Grand Geneva has a huge indoor water par, which makes it especially kid friendly, along with two PGA Championship caliber courses, the Brute, and the Highlands. The Abbey does no have an indoor water par, but has excellent accommodations as well. And they are affiliate with Abbey Springs, one of the oldest, and most beautiful courses Wisconsin has to offer.
Then there is the restaurants. LG has everything from cheap to high class, and everything in between. If you are just looking for something quick or something for the kids give Claws a try. They have a menu that is full of tasty treats for adults and kids alike. If you enjoy fine dining, my favorite place on the Lake is Cafe Calamari, by far. They have a phenomenal fillet, a great selection of wine, awesome service, and an espresso martini that is to die for. If they are booked up, give Kirsch's a call, as they have excellent food as well.
If shopping is what you like, then just take a stroll through the beautiful downtown area of LG and you will find that there is NO shortage of shopping. Be sure to stop by Kilwin's Chocolate and Ice Cream Shop if you find yourself there.
LG is also turning into a top golf destination in the Midwest. The reason for this is because the area boasts numerous high quality courses, numerous mid level courses, and a few lower level courses for the more laid back players. Along with all of the other things in the area and it is no wonder why people are flocking to the area every summer. The elite courses in the area are:
-Geneva National
-Grand Geneva
-Abbey Springs
These 3 establishments have the golf thing nailed down. Each offers it's own brand of difficulties and uniqueness. It would be hard to pick the best one of the bunch. You cannot go wrong if you make your way on to any of these courses. They do carry a bit higher greens fees than the other area courses, but do deliver on the quality.
Other courses to check out:
-Hawks View
-Lake Geneva Country Club
-Evergreen
-Alpine Valley Resort
If you cannot or do not want to play one of the elite courses, I recommend checking out one of these. They are great courses for the money, and are a little more laid back as far as dress code as well.
